Looking and feeling your best as a pathway to happiness
and other forms of success
When you look and feel your best it increases your ability to overcome obstacles and become a New York Achiever. That’s why in this edition of “New York Achiever” magazine we are focusing on hair fashion expert and stylist to the stars Topaz. You may know Topaz from an article and video about her and her celebrity client Karina Smirnoff (“Dancing with the Stars”) that was featured in the magazine “Salon Innovator".
In this current article we will be looking at Topaz and her relationship with her clients in a whole new way: in terms of family, achievement and happiness. Topaz is a believer that happiness comes before and not because of material success. In other words, if you are happy first, other kinds of success will follow. It is for this reason that in her current campaign message she is communicating the idea that looking and feeling your best are a part of achieving happiness and that happiness leads to even more kinds of success.
Examples and the embodiment of those who follow this philosophy can be found in clients of Topaz's including Brooks, Amy, Catherine and Denise. A sturdy line of continuity that connects these New York Achievers together is that they are all successful in their careers and relationships as well as the fact that Topaz is the stylist not only of the individuals themselves, but also of their friends, family, husbands, wives, daughters and sons!

Says Brooks:
“Topaz has been cutting my hair for 14 years and I wouldn’t consider going to anyone else. With her wisdom, advice, and “magic” products, I may actually have more hair now than I did 14 years ago. About a year after I met Topaz, I introduced her to my girlfriend (and now wife) who became loyal customer and friend as well. Topaz is versatile, efficient, extremely competent and creative; but most importantly, she is a wonderful person and I look forward to catching up with her for those 30 minutes every month.”

The 2008 Zagat Survey of Restaurants ranked Amy's Bread very highly with a rating of 23 for food and as one of the Best Buys in NYC, while the Zagat Marketplace Survey for 2009 gave a 27 for food—top in the baked goods category. The bakery was also chosen to have “Best Bread in NYC” in 2003 by the readers of Time Out N.Y. Amy’s husband Troy and son Harry (both pictured with Amy) are also clients of Topaz. Troy was Topaz’s client first, starting around 15 years ago, then about 8 years ago when he married Amy she became Topaz’ client too. And then when Troy and Amy had their son Harry, another member of the family now sits in Topaz’s chair!
"We enjoy going to Dramatics on 57th Street because we all love to see Topaz. She has been cutting Harry's hair since he was 3. Amy has been her client for 7 years, and Troy has been a loyal fan and client for 12 years (as of this spring!) Topaz's kind and friendly approach to her clients makes all of us happy every time!"
